Abigail meets with John Procter in the woods. They talk about the trails, and how Abigail plans to bring more people to be tried. John proctor threatens to bring the truth out in the court, but if he does, Abigail says she will tell everyone about their affair, which would ruin his good name.
John Proctor brings Mary Warren into the court house, to say the truth about the trails. Judge Danforth is given a piece of paper with Mary Warrens hand writing on it. She has wrote that she was lying, and how the girls were also lying.
Proctor desides his fate.
John Procter has told the judge how he knows Abigail, and sends for Elizabeth. John Procter states that his wife has never told a lie in his life. When they arrive back Elizabeth says that she did send Abigail out to the highroad, but then lies about John not having an affair with Abigail.
Just hanging around
The girls pretend to be pocessed. Marry Warren tries to tell the girls to stop but they start to act like Mary Warren was possessing them. Mary Warren then joins them in chorus, and then she turns on John and says how he threatened her. John then states that every one shall burn in the afterlife, which now claims that he is a witch.
Elizabeth gets to see her husband in jail on the day he is to be hanged. She wonders if he will confess his sins, or if he will die with the truth. The Judge then comes and John confesses his sins. Parris gives Procter a paper to sign, and he signs it but won't give it back because he doesn't want the town to see that he lied.
Do what you must.
Elizabeth then lets her him go, knowing that her husband will die as an innocent man. The town watches while the drums blare the finally boom. John Proctor has died.
