  • The trait passes down from each generation so if you mate with a male with colorful feathers and big tails your children will have those traits too.
  • The males with small tails and less colorful tails do not mate and therefore there genes are limited causing it to go extinct.
  • The birds with less colorful feathers go extinct because they could not pass down their genes causing natural selection.
