Mercutio gets mad that Romeo won't fight Tybalt because he had just married Juliet and Tybalt is Juliet's cousin. So Mercutio defends Romeo and draws his sword and tries to fight Tybalt himself.
Away, Tybalt!
I am hurt. A plague o ' both houses! i am sped. Is he gone and hath nothing?
Romeo tries to break Tybalt and Mercutio apart by telling Mercutio to calm down and put the sword away but then they draw their swords again.
Tybalt and Mercutio begin to fight while Romeo is trying his best to stop them because he knows it's wrong that Mercutio is fighting for him but they keep drawing their swords.
Just while Romeo was attempting to stop the fight. Tybalt ended up suddenly stabbing Mercutio in the stomach. Tybalt and his men end up leaving and Mercutio is in pain from the stab wound and starts bleeding repeatedly. He tries to speak to let people know he's hurt.
Mercutio slowly starts dying because of how much blood he was losing and Romeo starts to feel guilty because Mercutio died defending him and he knew that the only reason why he didn't fight Tybalt was that he's Juliet's cousin.
Benvolio tells Romeo to run. Romeo ends up finding Tybalt and they fight. Romeo stabs Tybalt and kills him for revenge on him killing Mercutio, Romeo's best friend.
