Storyboard Text

  • Sparta
  • Athens united with the other city-states after realizing that they would not be able to fight the Persians themselves. They all united to defeat the Persians, and then the Persian king Darius was angry that the Athenians united to try to defeat them.
  • Let's all unite to defeat Persia!!!!!

  • The conquered Greek city-states rebel against Persia with help from Athens
  • Other
  • The Athenians were sneaky, and tricked the Persians by attacking the Persians after the Persians tried to wait for the city-states at Marathon, but then got tired after three days, and while they stated loading up their ships, that is when the Athenians attacked, and won the battle of Marathon.

  • The traitor sneaking away to tell Persian  warriors about a secret passage to attack them from behind.
  • A traitor from  Sparta helped the Persians attack the Greeks in a discreet manner. King Leonidas dismissed his troops and only kept 300 men to stay and fight until the end. The Greeks lost, and the Persians won  the Battle of Thermopylae.
  • The traitor has told the warriors of the passage, and they are now sneaking up from behind.

  • Themistocles of Athens devised a plan to attack Persia's ships. The Athenian's lured the Persians into the strait of Salamis. The Persian ships were too big to move around, however the Athenians ships were small enough to move smoothly  around the strait of Salamis and to trap the Persian ships. The Greek city-states won the Battle of Salamis.

  • The Greek city-states came together even stronger and formed the largest army yet. The Greeks fought the Persians one last time at the Battle of Platea. With over 100,000 soldiers on each side, the Greeks beat the Persian Empire.

  • Persians no longer had power over the Greek city-states after their defeat in the Battle of Plataea, and Persia and the Greek city-states eventually found peace with one another.The Persian Empire declined and weakened shortly after though.
