  • Gloucester unexpectedly  enters and reads  Edmund's letter   "from Edgar"
  • A letter from Edgar, saying he wishes to kill you!
  • And hes been seen wielding a sword whenever he's about.
  • How can this be!?!
  • what do you have?
  • After Gloucester leaves, Edgar arrives and Edmund tells him hes seen a prediction that misfortune will come to Edgar and that he must carry a sword. Causing suspicion with his Father.
  • If You do stir abroad go armed
  • Armed, Brother?
  • Brother I advise you to the best.
  • Edmund tricks Edgar into drawing his sword against him, and cuts his own arm letting Gloucester believe Edgar has tried to kill Edmund, and sends his men after Edgar.
  • Pursue him, ho! Go after.
  • Edgar is forced out of the Kingdom. He has lost everything and is forced to disguise himself as a beggar and hide in a tree.
  • I will now be knwon as "Poor Tom" and take shelter in this hollowed out tree
  • During the fight to win back the Kingdom for Lear, Edgar mortally wounds his brother Edmund, claiming Justice for himself and reclaiming what was rightfully his.
  • Th' hast spoken right. 'Tis true. The wheel is come full circle:I am here.
