Storyboard Text

  • Brittany, I need to tell you about the  Complications Pelvic of Inflammatory Disease
  • Oh no! What are they?
  • The first complication that could happen is, Ectopic pregnancy. That is when the scar tissue from PID prevents the fertilized egg from making its way through the fallopian tube to implant in the uterus.
  • Oh my, is there more?
  • Yes, there is a few more.
  • That's not good.
  • The next complication you could get is, Infertility. That is when you can become pregnant because, your reproductive organs might become damaged from PID.
  • Sounds painful!
  • Another complication that could occur is, Chronic pelvic pain. Chronic pelvic pain is when scarring in your fallopian tubes and other pelvic organs causes pelvic pain that might last for months or years.
  • Yes, that's the whole point.
  • That's horrible!
  • The last complication that could happen is, Tubo-ovarian abscess. This is when PID might cause an abscess or a collection of pus to form in your uterine tube and ovaries. If left untreated, you could develop a life-threatening infection!
  • No, I think I know everything.
  • Okay, bye.
  • So Blair, any questions?
