Storyboard Text

  • Your son will be a king or religious leader!
  • I want him to be a king!!
  • I have everything I want! I even have gold!
  • I can't believe he's dead!
  • I'm about to die.....
  • Siddhartha Gautama was born a prince in Nepal.  A fortune teller said he would be a king or religious leader. The king tried to guide his son to become a future king.
  •  I tried this ascetics group and it doesn't satisfy me. I have to little.
  • Siddhartha was raised in wealth and luxury. His Father made sure he didn't see anyone who was sick, poor, or sad. He had everything he could want.
  • ....Meditation.... ....Meditation .... ...Buddha ...
  • At the age of 29 Sidd rode out of the castle with no guards. During the ride he saw the Four Passing Sights. Sidd saw a dead man, a diseased, a man leaning on a stick, but the last he saw a holy homeless man. That night he cut his hair and traded his clothes for a simple robe.
  • Sidd began his search for the truth about life. He first studied with gurus, then later became a band of ascetics. He was so content to it, he barley ate. So one day he fainted, when he awoke he ate a bowl full of rice and a glass of milk, so the ascetics abandoned him.
  • Siddhartha became buddha by meditating for 49 days and not giving up, even when the god Mara tried temt him, he stood his ground and eventually he came to enlightenment
  • The buddha chose to go back to the world instead of enjoying his own liberation to teach others what he had learned. For the next 45 years he travled across India, preaching a message of truth and hope.
