  • Earth formed 4.6 billion years ago when dust and rock particles were pulled together by gravity.
  • One of the earliest signs of life were single celled bacteria. They appeared about 4 billion years ago. And will help make life on Earth.
  • Stromatolites are layered mounds that were made from cyanobacteria a single celled microbe that could photosynthesize. Fossilized stromatolites hold records of early life.
  • Banded iron formations are 1.8 to 2.5 billion years old.  They are made of different kinds of iron that sank to the bottom of the early sea and layered.
  • Multicellular life formed about 600 million years ago. They will be the ones to start life on earth.
  • The cambrian explosion was about 541 million years ago. It was the most major sea animal creation. It made most of today's modern sea animals.
