  • Exposition
  • Clean your room Nathan.
  • Mom I don't want to it's dark in there. You know I have trouble breathing and my heart starts racing when I'm in dark places.
  • Hey it's ok I'll help you clean your room so nothing happens to you.
  • Rising Action
  • Nothing is going to happen to you don't worry. If you want, I could walk with you outside so that you can get used to being in the dark.
  • Everything still looks very scary, but maybe if I walk with you in the dark for awhile that might help.
  • Rising Action
  • See, this isn't so bad.
  • I don't know about that, sometimes I feel the need to just escape the darkness.
  • Nathan's mom asks Nathan to clean his room but he doesn't want to because he's scared of dark places (Nyctophobia). Nathan's friend says he could help him clean his room so that Nathan doesn't get scared while doing it.
  • Climax
  • Are you still scared now?
  • No, I guess it's not so bad after all.
  • They are cleaning Nathan's room and his friend asks him if he is still scared even though he is there with him. Nathan says he is still scared so his friend offers to help him with his fear by walking with him as he goes outside in the dark.
  • Falling Action
  • How did it go Nathan?
  • I walked in the dark and I don't think i'm afraid anymore.
  • Yeah, he did a really good job.
  • Nathan and his friend are walking outside in dark but Nathan still hasn't gotten used to being in dark places.
  • Resolution
  • Sure feels good to not be scared of the dark anymore.
  • After Nathan spends some time with his friend in the dark, Nathan finally realizes that nothing is going to happen to him while he's in the dark. 
  • When Nathan and his friend arrived home, Nathan's mom asks Nathan about how walking outside with his friend went. Nathan says that he doesn't think he is scared of the dark anymore and his friend agrees with that statement.
  • Nathan thinks to himself about how great it is to not be scared of the dark anymore.
