After Scout beat up Walter Cunningham and Jem offered to bring him home with them for dinner Scout was rude and judgmental of how Walter ate his food. "Don't matter who they are, anybody sets foot in this house's yo' comp'ny, and don't you let me catch you remarkin' on their ways like you was so high and mighty!" (Lee 33). Calpurnia scold Scout for her rude behaviors and taught her a life lesson on how to treat guests in the Finch house.
Jem, Atticus, and Scout went to Finch's Landing, Jem and Scout's cousin, Francis, makes fun of Atticus and him defending Tom in the upcoming trial. "If Uncle Atticus lets you run around with stray dogs, that's his own business, like Grandma says, so it ain't your fault. I guess it ain't your fault if Uncle Atticus is a nigger-lover besides, but I'm here to tell you it certainly does mortify the rest of the family-"(Lee 110). After Francis makes fun of Atticus, Scout had had enough of it and started beating him up but to only be pulled apart a few seconds later.
Scout is wanting to go to Calpurnia's house and asks Atticus but Aunt Alex answers instead of Atticus angering Scout, Jem tries to tell her how to be but ends up threatening her making her mad. "Now I mean it, Scout you antagonize Aunty and I'll- I'll spank you" in response Scout angrily yells, "you damn morphodite, I'll kill you" (Lee 184). Scout and Jem got into a fist fight and it was broken up by Atticus just in time before anybody got seriously injured.
