  • Women’s March on Versailles
  • Give us bread!
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man
  • The Declaration of Men
  • All men are equal and free in rights.
  • Reign of Terror
  • In October of 1789, thousands of Parisian women rioted over the rising price of bread. They demanded the National Assembly take action to provide bread and the Louis and Marie Antoinette return to Paris. Louis eventually agreed and never saw the palace again.
  • Execution of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
  • The Declaration said that men are born and remain equal and free in rights. It also granted citizens equal justice, freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Similar to the Declaration of Independence.
  • Rise of Napoleon
  • A period of time when that Robespierre became ruler and killed many of the citizens.
  • Fall of Napoleon
  • King Louis XVI and Queen Marie got sent to death by a guillotine. The members of France got to witness their former king get beheaded.
  • Napoleon was a great military commander and he crowned himself emperor. Napoleon also created and a new set of laws called the Napoleonic Code to give to France.
  • Napoleon was forced into exile because he was unable to defeat his enemies.
