Storyboard Text

  • Thomas Mathews
  • Oh golly gee, this is the last straw- them Indians have stolen my hogs...  Let me and my farmer friends ask to fight them.
  • Governor William Berkeley
  • No, let us avoid violence. Silly farmers, we can just build some defensive forts with tax money anyways...
  • Let us fight the Indians, they cause conflict with their actions- we need the militia.
  • Nathaniel Bacon
  • We cannot stand for this any longer. Not for the Indians, not for  William Berkely, or his taxes. We need to fight back.
  • They go to ignite a battle with the Indians...
  • Commotion from the   Occaneechi and Susquehanock tribes fighting
  • While Raiding Jamestown...
  • 500 Follower of Nathaniel Bacon
  • They were unaware of the newly passed reforms concerning the Indians.
  • We demand the use of our militia
  • Jamestown was badly damaged from Bacon's Rebellion (which lasted for months).  After attacking a  nearby, innocent Indian tribe- the group then burned the colonial capital to the ground.
  • They retreated across the river.
  • The rebellion did not last long- and  Bacon soon died this caused a lessening of the force.  The remaining forces were disarmed through trickery, by  Thomas Graham, a captain.  Things soon went back to normal- and Berkeley regained his position.
  • Glory be to us all- for I have disarmed the  rebels.
