Storyboard Text

  • This is a type of rabbit species called "sandies" because of their coloring and their attraction towards sand.
  • There are two distinct traits that vary within this species of rabbit.
  • Hi, I am Ms. Thumper!  I have longer legs and bigger ears than my sister.  These traits are not very attractive to the male rabbits, therefore there are less of my traits in the "sandie" species.
  • Hello! I am Ms. Hopper!  I have shorter legs and ears than my sister, which are more prominent in my species because that is what the male rabbits like.  (I am the one who got the good genes from mom and dad)
  • This is an example of intersexual selection or "sexual selection"
  • The rabbits lived freely until 2019, where hunting animals for fur was illegal.  The "sandie" species was the only exception to this act.  Big fashion companies began to hunt "sandies" :(
  • I am doing this for companies like Chanel and Fendi!  I get $$$!
  • My trait in the species has become less and less dominant, because of the hunting.  It is difficult for me to escape the hunters due to my short legs and small ears.  I can not run away fast enough, and hear the hunters in the distance.
  • This is an example of disruptive selection.
  • Now my traits are extremely common in the "sandie" species due to the hunters and the animal fur act.  The rabbits with my trait are able to escape the hunters quickly because of our large ears and long legs.
