During the early Cold War, Libya discovered they have an abundance of oil under their land. This caused countries to want to ally with them. This discovery changed Libya forever.
One of LIbya's strongest allies grew to be the Soviet Union during the cold war. In 2008, Vladimir Putin visited Libya. This was te first ever visit by a Russian president to Libya. This just shows the lasting effects of the cold war on Libya
Libya also advanced in their military aspect. Soviet engineers to build new and modern missle bases. A decade later Russian soldiers helped Libyans with conflicts. These military advances have helped Libyans.
On April 14th 1986 the U.S. launched air strikes against Libya. They bombed Libya because of their support for terrorism againt the U.S. Five military targets we hit in Libya.

During the Arab Cold War, nasserism became more popular. Free Officers Movement of Libya overthrew the Kingdom of Libya in 1969. This caused permanent uproar and chaos.
