Jazz is a genuine musical force

Early forms of jazz took shape as blues-ragtime, which was really popular in the South and in Europe countries like Germany. Berlin's hit song of 1911," Alexander's Ragtime Band," became a sensation which only fueled the fire of the upcoming jazz.
In its early years, jazz was considered the devil's music by diverse segments of the American public. Vigorous public debate raged between supporters and detractors. Music critic Ernest Newman debunked jazz in 1927 when he argued that, " jazz is a genuine musical force".
