  • What Caused the War?
  • We found the land! we get to colonize it!
  • you didn't even see it first, I saw it and you stole it.
  • The Fighting Begins
  • British Declares War
  • We Declare War! You keep stealing our land!
  • Sure, we stole their land. meanies.
  • The French and British wanted to colonize American territory, this caused disputes over who got the land, even though that land was never theirs, or anyone's, except for the Indians. (the British is in blue, the French are in red)
  • French Victories
  • We did it! no way the British can beat us now.
  •  The fighting began in 1754, after the Albany plan of union was negotiated. The governor of Virginia sent a militia (lead by George Washington) to steal french territory. The militia lost under Washington's control, but he proved his worth in battle. Then in 1755, Braddock went to the river valley of the french and used European tactics, against Washington's orders, and ended up killing himself along with 1,000 other soldiers.
  • The Turning Point
  • The British declared war on the french in 1756,  the war lasted till 1763. And just like any other war, it was tragic. So many died, and more were injured. And all for what? to see who got the land? well let me tell you one thing, it doesn't matter who wins or looses, for in the end, we all loose. in war, some may come back alive, but none of them come back truly living.
  • What Happened After the War?
  • we own this land now! whatever we say, goes! and you have to pay taxes now, so pay up!
  • The French won 3 main battles: battle of fort Oswego-August of 1756, Siege of fort William Henry-August of 1757, and battle of fort Ticonderoga-July of 1758. The french also captured 2 important British forts: Lake George and lake Ontario. The French were winning the war, but soon they will loose, soon their luck will run out.
  • Foreshadowing alert!
  • In 1758, the British send a foreign minister-William Pitt to negotiate a peace treaty with the Native Americans, to try to get as many allies as possible. They learned new fighting strategies and tactics that they would utilize in the in a war against the french. This lead to the treaty of Paris ending the war in 1763, with the British as the victors.
  • The British gained control of all french land east of the Mississippi river (except for New Orleans). Spain gained control of all french land west of the Mississippi river. The British made the colonists pay taxes to pay for war damage. The British general, Jeffery Amherst, also upset many by limiting guns and weapons that were traded to prevented a rebellion from the colonists.
