  • King Louie's lavish life came at a cost. France had three estates. The first estate being the clergy. Second estate involved nobles and the military. Last estate included the working class. The working class was 97% of the population and was the only estate that payed taxes.

  • The working class start seeing how bad they are being treated and are not happy with it. Third estate is the poorest estate and still have to pay taxes, meanwhile the richest estates live lavishly without a worry in the world.
  • Behead him already!!!
  • On June 20 1789, the members of the French Third Estate took the Tennis Court Oath. Which was a pivotal event in the French Revolution that displayed the belief that political authority came from the nation's people and not from the monarchy. The Oath signified the first time that French citizens formally stood in opposition to King Louis XVI
  • The Storming of the Bastille set off a series of events that led to the overthrow of King Louis XVI and the French Revolution. The success of the revolutionaries gave the working class throughout France the courage to rise up and fight against the nobles who had ruled them for so long.
  • In June 1791, King Louis attempted to escape, which was considered proof of Louis treasonable dealings with foreign powers. He was forced to accept a new constitution, thereby establishing a constitutional monarchy. Louis was found guilty of treason and executed at the guillotine on 21 January 1793.
