In the book "The Sign of the Chrysanthemum" by Katherine Paterson Muna was the main character. In the beginning Muna was sad and shy. He changed to being happy and outgoing. The author showed how he changed through speech, and actions.
He was sad in the beginning because his mom died. "Muna clapped his hand to his mouth to keep form crying out."
He is not sad anymore, he is mature and found people he likes and does things he enjoys."But now he did them all with a kind of fierce joy."
I kind of enjoy sweeping now.
I like doing it with you :)
He doesn't want attention or anyone to talk to him so he's hanging his head."Altho he kept his head bent"
Muna is outgoing because he made friends like Ara and Fukuji. "On a night in late spring, the two of them sat in the court yard while Fukuji played his zither and sang Isonokami's"
In conclusion the character Muna from "The Sign of the Chrysanthemum" by Katherine Paterson changed throughout the book. He started as a shy and sad boy and grew to be a happy and outgoing man shown through his speech and actions.
