"A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure permanently half-slave and half-free."
"The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on."
Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was a man from Illinois who opposed slavery in the United States. He was later assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865.
Ulysses S. Grant was one of the many important military leaders who aided in the success of America in many wars. Grant was the leader of the Union's army against the Confederacy during the Civil War. Grant later on became the eighteenth president of the United States.

My loyalty lies with Virginia!
There were many advantages for the North and one of them happened to be population. The North had 22 million people on their side. This when it came to raising an army and having people tosupport the war efforts.
Another advantage of the North was that they were more industrialized. Ninety percent of the nation's factories were located in the northern region. This means that they were able to produce clothing, boots, and weaponry, things that were very important during a war.
One major disadvantage of the war was the loss of General Robert E. Lee. Robert E. Lee was a war hero from the Mexican-American War and former secretary of war. Lee choosing to join the Confederate States of America rather than the Union was a huge disadvantage to the Union because he knew all their strategies.
