Storyboard Text

  • It's our land! No, ours! We were here first! No, we were! Stop it! Get off our land!
  • In the name of England, the English declare war on the French!
  • Washington, you must go build a fort in Pennsylvania to keep the French scum out!
  • Oh, no! The French are already building Fort Duquesne over here! Well, we'll make Fort Necessity here anyway.
  • Many battles occurred. But in the beginning of the war, the French and their Native American allies were winning!
  • Back in the colonies, Ben Franklin proposed the idea of having one government and army to defeat the English. The representatives agreed, but the colonists didn't.
  • Albany Plan of Union...
  • In England, William Pitt took over as leader of the war effort. He convinced everyone to send more money, supplies, and troops to aid the colonists. Also, the British gained the Iroquois as allies.
  • Things went really well for the British, so with all of the victories, James Wolfe captured the French city of Quebec. The English later gained control of Montreal as well. When Montreal was lost, the French surrendered. The war ended and the French signed the Treaty of Paris, which basically gave the British all of their land in Canada and the present-day U.S.
  • Treaty of Paris
  • But even with this happy ending for the British, England still had to pay for the war. They decided to tax the colonists to raise money, who were shocked and angry. Why would Britain do such a thing to the soldiers who had fought for them? These taxes would lead to rebellion and the start of the Revolutionary War.
