"i'm thirsty nine years old... I've got varicose veins. I've got five false teeth" (Orwell, 120) . Winston lacks the physical strength that the average hero usually represents through physical appearance. Winston lacks uniqueness in his looks and throughout some points inn the book where he would look worse than the average human.
"You are prepared to commit murder?" "Yes" "To commit acts of sabotage which may cause the death of hundreds of innocent people?" "Yes" Winston plays a role of innocent he strongly believes that he is moral but he is quick to judge others. A hero does not judge others no matter what, he's also quick to provide excuses for his terrible actions. He does not care he will do whatever he wants for the sake of himself which is very special.
"There were times when his nerve so forsook him that he began shouting for mercy even before the beating began, when the mere sight of a fist dawn back for a blow was enough to make him pour fourth a confession for real and imaginary crimes" . Thought the main parts of the story Winston shows in many cases that he can be a coward he does not stand by his word or up for anyone. He's quick to do whatever others tell him to making him look like a coward and one who does anything to please others.
