The Scarlet Ibis

The Scarlet Ibis

Storyboard Text

  • Though doctors said doodle would not live long, and everybody thought so, he lived on.
  • Oh no!
  • Unfortunately he is very weak, he likely won't last long, I suggest making arrangements right away.
  • There were signs and reports of a storm moving in. The family went outside to find a dead scarlet Ibis, which was said to be a sign of bad luck. Doodle chose to bury the poor creature.
  • Brother at first showed disdain, embarrassment, and even malice towards his brother. Even though he was very mean to his brother, he still had to take him everywhere with him.
  • He's such a burden. I wish he would be normal. He's so embarrassing.
  • At times, brother was flat out evil, tormenting and bullying his little brother. He was growing tired of having a majorly handicapped brother.
  • This was made for you you know! Touch it or I won't help you down.
  • Through selfish rage, brother ran off in anger. He pushed Doodle and left him behind during a big storm. Upon coming back, he discovered his brother Doodle, dead.
  • But I don't want to!
  • Brother was tired of Doodle's major handicap, so through forced work, he taught doodle how to both stand and walk on his own.
  • C'mon Doodle, you can do it!
  • I don't think I can brother.
  • I will give this bird a proper burial. Momma said not to touch it, so I'll use some cord.
