Storyboard Text

  • Hello I am Deathy
  • Today we're going to teach you about transcription and translation
  • We are grim reapers oooh
  • And I'm Deathkabab!
  • Wait what's that again?
  • Transcription is when a gene is copied to make mRNA which then leaves the nucleus and goes to a ribosome so that translation can happen.
  • I know right! Just so you know a gene is a DNA strand that codes for a specific protein.
  • Fascinating
  • Translation is how the newly made mRNA is used to make a protein.
  • It's nothing like t-rex. tRNA reads three nucleoids at a time and gives the matching amino acids to the ribosome.
  • Yep! A ribosome reads the mRNA like a recipe and attaches the amino acids that The tRNA bring over in the correct order to make a protein.
  • tRNA sounds like t-rex
  • Hmmmm
  • Good! Now when a mistake is made during either transcription or translation, the protein made will be incorrect and not right for the organism.
  • These are called gene mutations and can result in changed physical appearance and can cause some internal functions to work incorrectly.
  • Are you even listening?
  • Of course...
  • No not that kind of protein. The protein in your body does work in your cells and are required for the function, regulation, and structure of your bodies tissue's and organs.
  • Well the creatures we're teaching do have bodies.
  • But I don't have a body. We're just air and a scary black cloak with eyes.
  • Isn't chicken a kind of protein?
  • Are you ready? People are coming.
  • Seriously you're sleeping?! Reapers doesn't need sleep idiot.
  • zzzzzzzz
  • This one does.
