  • Repression
  • When asked how his dad was
  • *Turns Pale* He's fine
  • Regression
  • I CANT TAKE THIS ANYMORE *cries*
  • *sucking left thumb*
  • Rationalization
  • YO ALEX! EVEN IF I STUDIED WE BOTH KNOW I'D FAIL ANYWAYS! PARTY ON!
  • Repression is when someone unconsciously tries to forget something because it threatens the ego and once it is forcefully remembered nervous and stressful symptoms appear. As a kid, Steven was abused by his dad. When ever he gets asked about anything about his dad he becomes nervous and stressed as he tried to repress the memories of his father.
  • Displacement
  • I can't take this anymore, we're done EMMA!
  • WHAT!? WHY? I DID NOTHING WRONG!!!
  •     Regression is when someone mental state reverts back to a younger state of mind, for example James is sucking his thumb because he got put in jail for selling weed. Since he couldn't handle it his mental state became equivalent to baby.
  • Sublimation
  • Arghhh!!!
  • Rationalization is when feelings or behaviors are justified by a rational or logical reason. For example Emma here is telling James that even if she did study, she would fail. Which is an excuse for her partying
  • Denial
  • So why did James break up with you?
  • Break up with me? What do you mean, we're still together!
  • Displacement is when one takes out feelings our impulses that are none threatening. This is a prime example of displacement, James, the male figure just failed his drivers exam and he's displacing his anger from failing the drivers exam on his ex-girlfriend.
  • F
  • Sublimation is when a person picks himself up from frustration and uses that as a motivating factor towards a different goal. In this case, Mike just failed his boxing match but he uses that as a motivating factor to go to the gym and train as a competitive weight lifter.
  • Denial is the act when one doesn't accept something that threatens the ego. In this case, Emma doesn't accept the fact that James has broken up with her in order to stop the ego-threatening truth.
