When you are a baby, you are likely to be exposed to many germs and diseases
Your baby needs to get his vaccinations today.
Your parents take you to the doctor to get vaccinations in order to prevent you from getting some of these diseases. You start getting vaccinations when you are a little baby.
A vaccine does not make you sick, but makes your body believe you have the disease. Your body fights the disease and is able to remember fighting the disease, so if you are exposed to it again later, your body is able to fight it again.
This will hurt for a minute, but will keep you safe for years.
When you play with friends, you can be exposed to their germs. Their germs can make you sick. If you have been vaccinated, you will not get some illnesses.
When you go to school, you are exposed to more germs and more diseases. Your vaccinations are still keeping you safe.
You have to get vaccinations again as you get older. There are new vaccines you have to get and boosters to the ones you got when you were younger.
