  • Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones is a large woman with a large purse that had everything in it.
  • It was about eleven o'clock at night, Mrs. Luella Bates Washinton Jones was walking alone when Roger tried to snatch her bag.
  • Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones caught Roger because since her bag is too big, Roger wasn't able to take it, so then she took him home and wouldn't let him loose.
  • Roger told Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones that he only tried to snatch her bag because he wanted money to buy a pair of blue suede shoes.
  • Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones heated some lima beans and ham she had in the icebox, made the cocoa, and set the table. They hate together since she thought that he must be hungry, and she told him all about her work.
  • Roger wanted to say something else other than "Thank you, ma'am" to Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones when she sent him out, but he barely managed to say "Thank you" before she shut the door. And he never saw her again.
