  • I should go to the doctors i've been having persistent diarrhea, smelly and greasy stool, chronic coughing and salty skin.
  • I think one of my grandparents had cystic fibros and soon before 40 he passed away.
  • So I've heard that you are having some complications with your health.
  • We should do a routine check-up and run some tests just for safe measures.
  • As you can see your results came back positive for cystic fibrosis, you get it from a gene from both of your parents.
  • There are many symptoms to go along with the ones that are listed above some of them in each system of your body for the respiratory system some symptoms may include wheezing, breathlessness, exercise intolerance and repeated lung infections.  For the digestive system some symptoms may include foul-smelling stool, poor weight gain and growth and severe constipation.
  • Are there any treatments for this?
  • Different tests someone as an adult can do to test if they have cystic fibrosis is chloride sweat test, carrier testing and adult testing. All of these do have a possibility of having a false positive and false negative.
  • There are new treatments that are on the horizon for CF and scientist have been developing a pipeline of drugs. There has been clinical trials in helping people who have CF.  Ta1 reduces inflammation and corrects genetic defects since the protein in the people who have CF the protein that normally regulates the activity of the chloride channel, which is responsible for the balance between salt and water in the lungs is altered it causes CF.
  • Cystic fibrosis is a recessive disorder. Someone can get it if he or she inherits two copies of the mutated gene, one from each parent. Cystic fibrosis occurs when a genetic mutation stops the production of a protein in cells of the lung, pancreas, and other organs. the absence of the protein impairs the cell's ability to transport chloride ions into and out of the cell. This sets up secondary conditions, including the thick mucus and bacterial infections in the lung.
  • If you didn't get screened as a child and now finding out that you have cystic fibrosis these are some of the medication/ treatments you can take and perform. Chest physical therapy this looses the thick mucus in the lungs making it easier to cough up. If you have a child you might want to opp for Vest therapy which is a vest that vibrates to loosen lung mucus. There's many more treatments you can have these are a few.
  • You can recieve treatment, but this is not curable. Things that can help is a a pneumococcal vaccine to help your lung problems. Some medications you can take are dietary supplement, Antibiotics, Penicillin antibiotic and Cough medicine.
  • There's has to be some type of cure out there.
