- Anthem is about a man who was born into a society that sees one person as multiple. They made everything in the past unlawful. It is against the rules to speak of the past. Everyone is equal and if you are different you are breaking the rules. Equality 7-2521 has found a subway station and is now hiding in it, because he knows that if they found out about it he will be thrown in jail. Soon he hides in the subway because he has broken the rules.
- He was then punished by the Council of the Vocations for every single transgression.
- One day, equality 7-2521 has spotted Liberty 5-3000 working in the fields. He develops a love for her.
- Equality 7-2521 then discovers that Liberty 5-3000 feels the same way. He then has a second conversation with Liberty 5-3000 and tells her that he has a name for her. "The Golden one"
- Liberty 5-3000 has travelled through the uncharted forest to find equality 7-2521. She scares him, they then make camp. They keep moving in the woods towards the mountains.
- They reach the mountains. They then see a house upon the mountains. They climb towards the house and decide it is theirs. There they learn how to think for themselves, they also learn that liberty is pregnant with their child. They also give themselves the names Prometheus and Gaea.
