  • Martin Luther was a Priest and a German Professor of Theology. He was Born in Eisleben, Germany on the 10th of November 1483 but soon after moved to Mansfeld and grew up in a hardworking family with several siblings.

  • The Roman Church started to sell indulgences. these were slips of paper that were supposed to wipe away your sins and give a pure entry to heaven. Luther believed that only your faith could save you. The people were getting scammed and the money was going straight to the Pope.

  • Martin Luther believed this was wrong; he wrote the 95 thesis about the flaws of the church and how corrupt it is and nailed them to the Wittenberg church door on October 31 1517. The Catholic Church labeled Martin Luther as a heretic and forced him into hiding,

  • Fredrick the wise was protecting him but Luther still wanted to let more people know what was wrong with the Catholic Church; so he re wrote the bible from Latin into German and his followers spread the word. He became the Foundation of the protestant reformation.
  • Martin luther went on to create his own religion 'Lutheran' and the Catholic Church monitored the money that was coming in and they stopped selling indulgences. He was so important to the community because he helped the public see right from wrong.
  • The Protestant reformation ended in 1648, many years after Martin Luther had died. He left a positive impact on the town. He did what he did because he believed "Everything that is done in the world is done by hope."
