During Buck's first day on the camp he starts to meet the pack and the one leading them all, Spitz who was a very persistent bother for Buck.
As the story continued Spitz became a very large problem for Buck. He consistently went out of his way to bully and harass Buck. He normally would try to ignore and avoid Spitz but Buck had enough of his mistreatment.
As the fight between Buck and Spitz up roared it seemed that the team had bigger problems to deal with. A pack of huskies started to creep through the night sensing there presence from a nearby tribe. Soon the whole camps supplies was being raided and multiple huskies members were injure. this was nowhere near there night.
soon the team was forced to seek shelter in the woods , dogs majorly injured and the men furious with there lose of supplies. with there desperate attempt for food the dogs started to eat there own gear including there shoes and dog equipment.
There was still thirty miles of land to cross in order to get to Dawson, but soon they can across another challenge an icy lake. Perrault seems not a little fazed by this and continued to take the risk of loosing an companion. Everyone frozen from falling and being drenched in icy cold water made it out in one peice and sat around a fire to defrost.
Things soon got more tense between Buck and Spitz. The young undertaker has now challenged the mighty leader to a fight to the death for the entire dog team to witness. the battle was strong and tense as Buck delivered fatal blow after fatal blow until he penetrated Spitz defenses and finally finished him.
