Storyboard Text

  • Julian is practicing his soccer skills before he has to go to try outs the next day. for a warm up he goes for a simple goal, he assumes that the angle to the goal 30 degrees, but knows that the height of the goal is 8 feet. So he then wonders how far he needs to kick the ball in order to make it in the goal. So he uses a trigonometric formula. He finds out that x= 8/tan(30). So the distance that he needs to kick the ball is 13.9 feet.
  • Title: JULIAN the soccer player
  • x
  • Julian underestimated the angle he needed to make the goal and ended up missing the goal. So he disappointingly walks to the nearest bench for a break.
  • Dang it I missed.
  • Julian stood by the bench for a while until he sees a small toy tennis ball roll pass. So he picked it up, he then wondered what it would take to throw that tennis ball into the sewer nearby. He picked up the ball and noticed that the distance from the ball to the ground was 7 feet and that the distance between him and the sewer was 14 feet. But he needed to find out the angle of depression in order to make it in the sewer. So he used a trig function to find out that x=tan-1(7/14). So the angle of depression needed to make the tennis ball in the sewer is 26.6 degrees.
  • 7 feet
  • 14 feet
  • Julian makes the tennis ball into the sewer and does a little happy dance. He now feels more confident to go and practice his soccer skills for one last time.
  • Julian was feeling super confident so he decided to try something more bold. He stepped back a little so now he is standing 40 feet from the goal with the goals height of 8 feet. He then wonders what angle he would need to kick the ball in order for the soccer ball to hit and bounce of the goal post. So he uses a trig formula. He finds out that x=tan-1(8/40). So the angle he would need to hit the goalpost is 11.3 degrees.
  • 40 ft
  • 8 ft
  • Julian cracks the goalpost with the soccer ball and yells, "GOALLLLLL" as he runs around the field. He goes home that night feeling super confident in his abilities to make the soccer team. He later gets signed to play for the United States men's national soccer team where he cracks the goal post 24/7 and lives happily ever after THE END.
  • Let's GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
