Storyboard Text

  • A Eutrophication Lesson by Tessa Trout
  • Eutrophication is a large part of water quality here in our watershed.
  • When eutrophication occurs, it is because there is an excess in nutrients such as phosphates and nitrates.
  • When there is an excess of nutrients. The plants absorb them and algal blooms like this one can occur.
  • Algal blooms are most common in slow moving, warm bodies of water. Like many of the lakes and ponds in our watershed
  • When algal blooms occur, they absorb a lot of the oxygen in the water and makes it harder for my friends and I to breathe and be happy in our homes.
  • Thank you for coming to my lesson on eutrophication!
