  • Exposition
  • Charlie Gordon is a 37 year old man. He wishes to be smart and is brought into a research program looking to make him smarter.
  • I want them to use me. I want to be smart. pg.1
  • Rising action
  • For this to happen, they first had to put Charlie through an operation. It is not clearly said what they do in this operation, but it can be inferred that it is a brain  surgery.
  • the operashun dint hurt. He did it while i was sleeping pg.4
  • Rising action
  • He begins growing smarter. This is first  shown when he wins a maze race against a mouse named algernon that was also operated upon. He had grown to hate the mouse, but began liking him after he won.
  • I hate that mouse. He always beats me. pg.4
  • In an experiment he discovers the condition of his brain is worsening. Algernon dies because of this, and he is worried.
  • climax
  • I have become absent-minded. Algernon died yesterday. Pg.18
  • Falling action
  • Charlie's intelligence starts to drop. As this happens, he's trying to figure out as much as he can about his research, hoping it can help. He's no longer getting paid by the lab.
  • I have no more money and Mrs Flynn says i got to go to work somewhere and pay rent pg.21
  • He eventually is returned to his original mental state and still feels that he is getting more and more stupid. The story resolves when he runs away to new york, hoping that his research helped people like him.
  • Resolution.
  • Its easy to make frends if you let pepul laff at ou. Im going to have lots of frends where i go. pg.22
