sMary Maloney is waiting for her husband to get home after his long day at work. She is clamly waiting for him while she is sewing. When Mr.Maloney arrived home they do what they always do when he comes home. They greeted each other. Mary takes his coat and makes him a drink.
Mary realizes that Mr.Maloney swallowed his drink in one gulp. Which makes Mary feel worried. Mary tries to talk with her husband but he does not say much. Then Mr.Maloney tells Mary that he needs a break with all the stress from work.
When Mary is told the news from her husband she gets a nause feeling. Mary goes and get the lamb that was going to be cooked for dinner. Instead of using it for dinner she uses it to murder her husband.
The police do not suspect Mary to be the killer. Mary's alibi is working out for her. She has the lamb cooking and tries convincing the police into eating it.
In the end the police eat the evidence. Doing Mary a favor and getting rid of the weapon. The police do not know that they have just ate the evidence that was used to kill Mr.Maloney.
In the story there is symbolism and dramatic irony. One example of symbolism is the lamb leg because lambs symbolizes innocence. We thought Mary was innocent until she killed her husband which was also foreshadowing. Dramatic irony is the police eating the murder weapon.
