Martin is afraid of the old, crickety elevator that he has to use. His father has no sympathy.
One morning, the elevator stopped at the 14th floor and an old, fat lady in a green coat walked on and stared at him with her piggy eyes. One day on his way to school, Martin took the elevator at 7:30. As the sliding doors opened, she was waiting for him.
AAAAH!! Help! Please don't eat me! Please!!!

As Martin was approaching the elevator, he saw the lady once more, but he didn't go in. As the door closed, she smiled at him. Martin ran down the stairs, and broke his leg.
Martin's dad left him alone in the elevator because he wanted to go see Mrs. Ullman. Martin tried to leave, but the old, fat lady in the green coat was already there. She said, "Hello Martin", and pressed the stop button....
