  • John Calvin was born on July 10, 1509, in Noyon, France
  • 1528 — Sent by his Father to the University of Orleans to study Law.
  • 1531- John Calvin's dad dies, allowing him to return to Paris to study theology.
  • 1536- he published the landmark text, Institutes of the Christian Religion, an early attempt to standardizes the theories of Protestantism.
  • 1538- when Calvin refused to administer Communion to certain leading people who were living in open sin. The tensions grew so great that Calvin and Farel were forced to leave Geneva.

  • 1540- Married the widow, Idelette de Bure.
