"You might have good eyes, but you can't see four miles or so through a moonless Caribbean night."
I can't see it
Rainsford and Whitney are on a yacht passing by Ship Trap Island. They talk about how the captain has always had a bad feeling about passing by the island. Whitney goes to bed leaving Rainsford there to smoke his pipe.
"We will have some capital hunting, you and I"
Rainsford hears a gun being fired three times. To get greater elevation, he balanced himself on a rail. He then looses balance and falls off the ship. He swims toward the island Whitney and him talked about. He climbs onto the shore and finds himself a suitable place to sleep.
Rainsford swims onto the island, and the first thing he does is sleep. He wakes up and notices a large chateau on the cliff base. He wonders up there, knocks on the door, only to be greeted by a deaf giant with a revolver. He is then greeted by a man, a General, who offers him a bed and dinner.
"I congratulate you, have won the game."
"I will challenge you to a duel, one of us will go to the hounds the other will get to sleep in a nice bed."
General Zaroff announces that he is a hunter and that he is bored. So, he says he hunts to most cunning animal on the planet, humans. Rainsford disapproves of what the general says, and asked him if he would let him leave.
"But what game"
General Zaroff asked Rainsford to hunt, he wasn't really clear when he said hunt,.What he actually meant was that he wanted to hunt Rainsford. Rainsford is given a hunting knife and some clothes, he then goes into the woods in search for three days, on the third day he makes a trap, with his knife, and a sapling, he rigs it to where when someone walks by they will get stabbed. The trap hits Ivan but not General Zaroff
Not who I wanted to hit.
During night time Rainsford sneaks back into the Chateau and into the general's room. The general finds him and challenges him to a duel. Rainsford had never slept in a better bed.
