Later, Buddha left the palace and began his journey to stop human suffering. Along the way he mastered meditation but realized it wasn't the only way to stop human suffering.
Buddha then tried fasting and focused on ways to liberate his soul. He fasted for so long that he nearly died and a little girl brought him some rice and milk to save him. Buddha then realized that he couldn't fast again since he wouldn't have achieved anything meaningful in his life.
Buddha then sat under a tree until he felt bliss and at peace with the world. At the age of 35 he was officially known as the Buddha and he developed simple principles that would guide his followers.
