Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • It's Bud, not Buddy sir.
  • Nice to meet you Buddy!
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Can you please repeat that?
  • You are my father!!!!!!!
  • Bud Caldwell, the main character of the story "Bud Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis lives in Flint, Michigan in 1936. His mother suddenly died when he was just a little boy leaving him with many hints to who his father is. He was moved to an orphanage, and, the Amoses family adopted him for the summer. Living with them is not what he expected at all. Bud decides to set off in a journey to find someone who he wanted to meet his whole life... his father. (Herman E. Calloway)
  • Falling Action
  • WOW!!! It's already been a week!
  • Bud runs away from the shed the mean Amoses locked him in. He is off on a expedition to the Grand Rapids. Bud is convinced that the flyers advertising Herman E. Calloway and his famous band, the Dusky Devastators of the Depression in which his mamma left for him, was a clue to who his father really is. "The idea started as a little seed and has now sprouted into a mighty maple tree" Bud exclaimed. Nothing could stop him once he decides that he should hit the road to find this mystery man. NOTHING!!!!
  • Resolution
  • As Bud is about to cross over into the Grand Rapids, a car pulls over to the side of the road, and, a person,(who he soon finds out was known as Lefty Lewis) gets out. He tempts Bud to come out from hiding in the bushes with food and then kindly asks him to explain his situation. Once he figures out that they are going to the same destination, he tells Bud to hop into the car and drives him all the way to the Log Cabin where Herman E. Calloway and his band practice. Bud enters the room filled with an abundance of people and then makes a horrible first impression.
  • Bud makes a fool of himself, yet again while at dinner with the crew. He cries like a baby in front of EVERYONE. Though, he ends up staying with the band in their house for much longer then he expected. He goes on many trip's with them all over the country, and has a great time. Bud travels home from one of the events with Herman E. Calloway, when he notices a familiar rock in which his mother always carried. He then finds the unknown truth.
  • After Bud states his mothers names, "Angela Janet Caldwell", Herman ran off crying. Jimmy one of the band members brakes the news to Bud that Herman is not his father, but his grandfather.
  • If what you are saying is true, Lord help us all, it looks like Herman might be your grandfather.
