The main character tries to tell her friends that she wants to be alone because she's having a hard time cleaning her mind about what happened with her and her family. One of her friends tell her "no I can't leave you i'm sorry for anything that happens in your dream but i want to make sure you are save." The other friend tries to tell them that it might be good that they leave and give each other space.
The main character has these dreams and when she starts to have them she tries her hardest to make them go away. she lays down and tries to go to sleep as soon as she close her eyes she can picture all the things she has went through in life, from when the time she was living in Afghanistan and thew bad things that happened to her. When she lost her leg she always think of the bad things when going to bed she says "Nowadays I don't dream about my leg very much. It's not like those first few weeks or even months after it was amputated when i used to dream that i was riding a bicycle or running around in our backyard in kabul or just walking."
The main character goes back and forth with wanting to know why she has a feeling that her friends are going to leave her for others that they might fit in with. she try to tell Alyce that she keeps having these bad dreams and now they are starting to get worst and bring others into it. Alyce tells her" I would never leave you to go befriend someone else, it's okay to have other friends but I couldn't leave you for them."
