Living in Pompeii doesn't seem easy for blind orphan boy, Tito, but when he has someone... Bimbo (a dog) to take care of him and love like a mother and father would, it is.
After a recent earthquake, all the people can do is come up with superstitious reasons for the occurring natural disasters. Everyone had some sort of different explanation. Meanwhile, the mountain they were living on was changing.
Volcano. The volcano causes conflict in this story because it adds suspense to the action, especially when the air turned hot and heavy, causing Tito to faint. The volcano causes external conflict because it is impacting the characters of the story physically.
As Tito started to take breaths, the air felt..poisonous and started to affect his nose...his ears...his taste... EVEN his eyes-and soon after that...he started to feel unearthly sounds.
As the noises got louder, buildings started to fall and the ground started to shake. Soon after...crowds started to swarm around him. Tito felt discouraged, but Bimbo persevered. As new dangers threatened the land, Tito was overwhelmed. He fell.
After trying everything he could, Bimbo finally got Tito up and through the sea gate. Tito didn't think he could make it and had passed out. Once, he awoken, Bimbo had disappeared, not to leave him behind but to get a raisin cake from the bakery for Tito. Tito was safe, but no matter how many times Tito called for him, he never answered. Bimbo had risked his life for his best friend.. his comrade.
