Welcome to The Republic of Texas
Por Favor, I'll do anything!
The Texans had enough and declared independence. This angered Santa Anna, the newly elected president of Mexico, who viewed the Texans as a pain in the neck. Santa Anna ordered three thousand men to come with him and kill the Texans that were held up in the Alamo.
The Alamo while being a defeat saw the deaths of over 600 Mexican soldiers killed by a force of over 100. The Alamo would soon become a rallying cry for rebelling Texans and would later be a staple in American culture.
Texas and Mexican forces clash at the Battle of San Jacinto with the battle ending in a Texan victory. It just so happened that Santa Anna was in the battle and afterward was captured. He was forced to sign a document which stated that Texas was now a country, though the Mexican Government never did officially consider Texas a country.
