You can't sign yourself out of school without a parent calling first.
I'm eighteen and my mom told me that I'm eighteen and responsible for myself now.
How This Bill Fixes the Issue
If you're eighteen, you're welcomed to sign yourself out. Otherwise, you'll need a parent to call beforehand
I propose the "Sign Out at Eighteen" bill. This bill will give students in High Schools the right to sign themselves out of school at the age of eighteen without parent consent.
This bill is addressing the problems High School students face when attempting to sign themselves out of school for appointments or other important reasons at the age of eighteen. Certain parents believe that their children are responsible of themselves at eighteen. Also, you're legally an adult at eighteen. This is causing students to miss appointments and parents are wasting their time at work to call their student out when there is no need to.
Allowing students to sign themselves out at eighteen will cause students to make it to their appointments and meet their needs without inferring with a parent's work day.
