'ONLY TEN' CHARACTER : PEARL JASMYN ROJO YEAR 7 ENGLISH MRS NASH
Pearl and Bruce are mucking around with Hussein in the playground...
'' Stop it, Bruce, you'll hurt someone.''
''Alvays ready for ze attack, eh, inspektor.....''
Pearl begins to call Hussein, his real name instead of 'The Shah' because she sees him in a new light.
''Hi Shah, watcha doing? this is Suzy she's three...''
''See? It's growing. They're all growing.''
In this storyboard I am focusing on the growth of a young girl called Pearl who tries to see and understand the new kid (Hussein) before judging him.
Pearl comforts Hussein at the school swimming carnival.
Pearl and Bruce are playing around with Hussein when Bruce attacks Hussein with a ruler. ''The ruler struck The Shah on the collarbone with a dull wack and clattered to the ground.'' ''I am a soldier'' The Shah said, and walked away.
Suzy is killed on-scene on a road crossing. Pearl, her mum and dad are all extremely upset.
Pearl sees Hussein in the plant nursery when he is crying he is so happy. 'His cheeks are shining'. They chat for a while and then she leaves. Pearl is beginning to see Hussein in a different/new perspective.
Pearl begins recovery.
Hussein gets frightened because he is reminded of his past life/home. Pearl comforts him with a smile. This shows that Pearl is beginning to accept Hussein and understand him.
Pearl has two days off school because her younger sister, Suzy, gets killed when she gets hit by a truck on a road crossing and when she gets back to school ….
Hussein comforts Pearl when she goes back to school. He takes her by the hand, squeezes it and smiles a little. They then walk off together. Pearl soon recovers and with the help of Hussein slowly rejoins life as normal. Pearls recovery is a story of bravery and happiness, in times of need she helped others so they helped her in return.
