  • In 1461, John Cabot's father taught him how to trade. He was a spice merchant and traded spices in Mecca. Once he became a Venetian citizen he started to conduct trade in the Mediterranean sea.
  • England 
  • John married a woman named Mattea and had three sons Ludovico, Sancto, and Sebastiano.
  • Cabot was he second European to discover North America. He went exploring for goods to put on the English market.
  • English Colonies 
  • John Cabot tried to find a route to Asia, when he found land he called it New-Found-Land thinking it was Asia, but it was actually Canada.
  • On John Cabot's second voyage he hoped to sail across the Atlantic to reach Japan. He went sailing with 5 ships and 200 men.
  • Cabot's voyage helped England get the first colonies in the new world that are now known as America and Canada.
