"After so many weeks of near starvation, his stomach rebelled mightily: He spent most of the night vomiting." (Page 36)
I dont feel so good.
"None of the travelers had money or anything of value to trade, so they had to beg for food." (Page 47)
Please spare us some food!
"He heard them laughing. As Salva watched one of the men aimed his gun at Uncle. Three shots rang out. Then the men ran away."
*bang bang bang*
After many days of nearly no food, Salva and the group had found something to eat. But Salva had later threw up due to his stomach not being used to the food. This is a internal conflict since its Salvas own fault and body that caused the event to happen.
Internal : Man vs Himself
The group had finally arrived to Ethiopia and have to beg for food to survive. They came with no items of value so trading wasn't an option. This demonstrates a external conflict because its Salva dealing with the fact that he has no access to food, which isn't a problem that was caused by himself.
External : Man vs Nature
After traveling through the desert for a long time Salva and the group come across people of the Nuer tribe. After taking anything of value from the group, Uncle gets taken to a tree, where he then later gets killed. Resulting in Salva being left alone. This is external conflict because its something that doesnt happen to salva personally, but still affects him deeply.
