  • Some things are free to use without needing quotation marks or needing to cite your sources. This is called Fair Use and includes works that are very old (published before 1922) or works that are owned by the Government.
  • Music, videos, movies, and books are all copyrighted. You must ask permission to use them. Copyrights protect the creator of the work.
