  • General Domingo de Ugartechea got the news that the American Colonist refused to surrender a small cannon, so he sent 100 soldiers to go and get it with no force.
  • Come and Take It!
  • Once his troops got there, they were blocked with high waters and 18 Texian soldiers. They asked for the cannon but the Texians refused, then the men of Gonzales asked for backup. 
  • No war!
  • They asked for the cannon but the Texians refused and started to dig up the cannon and fill metal scraps with it.
  • They made a homemade flag that read "Come and Take It."
  • They attacked the Mexicans who could not fight back, and they tried to avoid war the best they could but it wasn't good enough. 
  •  This was the start of the Texas Revolution.
