• Using the inverse of tangent we are able to find the angle in which the plane needs to be in order to land. Tan^-1(720/435)

• An engine broke!!We need to land. Our altitude is 435 meters and we are 720 meters away from shore. What angle does the plane need to be in order to land?
• The plane needs to be at approximately 58.86 degree angle
• Using sine we can find the height of the tree.(Sin65= X/7 ) + 5
• 5 FT
• While the captain works to fix the engine, I'll go get food
• At my eye level of 5ft, the straight line distance to the top of the tree is 7ft. I am looking from a 65 degree angle.

• The height is approximately 11.34 ft

• I need to build a 2 point ladder, how much wood am I going to need?
• The length of the vertical pole corresponds with the height of the tree. We can find the length of the second pole by using the Pythagorean theorem. Assuming the base is 5 feet, the equation is 11.34^2 + 5^2 =hypotenuse

• 11.34 FT
• ﻿The hypotenuse is approximately 12.39 ft, making the total approximately 23.73 ft
• Using cosine we can find the base of the triangleCos47=X/16
• The distance from the ground to the top of the boat is 16 ft. The angle of elevation from the ground to the top of the boat is 47 degrees
