Charity comes from a wealthy family, while Barnum grows up poor, regardless, they dream of building a life together. Once Charity finishes school she takes a leap of faith and starts a life with Barnum in New York City.
Climax/Never Enough
P.T. Barnum needs money for his circus and needs someone to join that has experience with plays and musicals. He finds Philip and persuades him to join with the promise that Philip would leave behind the expectations of his previous lifestyle.
Falling Action/ From Now On
Although Philip and Anne want to be together, Philip's parents insulted her and she becomes ashamed of their relationship. Philip wants to make it work but Anne feels small and feels as though she is not worthy enough to be with him.
Resolution/ The Greatest Show
Jenny Lind feels like there is something missing in her life and by singing this song we see that even though she has all the fame and the spotlight in her life she wants love.
Barnum realizes that in the end, everything he had done and built was for his family and to build a good life for them. Barnum uses this song to apologize to the misfits and to his wife.
Even though they had lost everything in the fire, they were able to dream and work together to buy land and a tent to create what it is now, the greatest show.
